  I.     School : General Information And Academic Administration
1.1  School Profile
Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) is a public secondary school in Baguio City, Philippines.
The former name of Baguio City National High School was Mountain Province High School. Classes were once held at the Teachers' Camp and native girls from the provinces near Baguio were housed at the BUA dormitory, known today as the Pacdal Elementary School. In 1937, the national government transferred the financial responsibility of maintaining the secondary school to the city government of Baguio. That's why the name was changed to Baguio City National High School. Its main campus is on Governor Pack Rd., and it has several annexes in the city.

BCNHS established at 1916. This school is located in Baguio city, Benguet district, Philippines. This school includes Junior High School and Senior High School. BCNHS Main Campus implements programs for students who have high aptitudes in certain areas for 7 until 12 grades:
  • Science, Technology, and Engineering Program (STEP): Students who have passed the entrance examinations and have high aptitude in science, mathematics and English are given the chance to take the program.
  • Special Program in Sports (SPS)
  • Special Program in Arts (SPA)
          1.2 Academic Support System



Just like the other school, education in Philippines is provided mainly by the Philippines government through the Ministry of Education from Pre-School to Senior High School. A free basic education of twelve years is guaranteed by the constitution, with minimun of nine years school attendance. In 2009, the Ministry of Education announced the extension of a free mandatory education to fifteen years.
                       
The academic support system of BCNHS have a laboratory, library, school clinics, chapel, conselor room, hall, schoolyard and also stadium for sport to support all the students and teachers activities. This school also have an extracurricular for the students such as basket ball, music group, choir, and others.
BCNHS also has 10 groups learning consists of: Mathematics, Science, Filipino Language, Art, Social, and Physical Education.
        1.3 Teaching System
The teaching system is based on the overall development of the students because in the classroom, the teaching of thinking is a vital skill for the future. Teaching process in BCNHS is more focus on the interactive teaching between students and the teacher. Because teaching and the learning process between teachers and students will lead the students to be more active and have big confident in answering the question by the teachers.
In the classroom, teachers become the facilitators for students, supporting and encouraging them to explore their own abilities. The teachers focus on each individual student becoming a better person and improving their opportunities for a better future.
       1.4 Materials and Other Learning Sources
                  The teaching process in BCNHS use materials and learning sources that provided by the teacher. Students are not using any text book or course book for their lesson. All the materials like media and instruction materials are prepared by the teacher to make students easier to understand the lesson. Students are not allow to use any electronic devices like Smartphone or calculator.
      1.5 Measurement and Evaluation Systems
            In BCNHS the measurement is giving to the students in every lesson. After they learn the lesson they have an activity that will measure them understanding about the materials. If the result of measurements is not satisfied, the teacher will recall again the material in the next day to make them more understand about the lesson.
            Every quarter BCNHS have their evaluation. They make an exam for the students in the end of the quarter. It will evaluate the students form the lesson that they have learn in every quarter. They also have remedial if the grade is not qualified with the standard. Teacher also use laboratory activity after the lesson for each topics.
      1.6.Curriculum
Education in Philippines uses K to 12 Curriculum. The K to 12 basic education curriculum consist of Kindergarten, Elementary for grade 1-6, Junior High School for grade 7-10, and Senior High School for grade 11-12. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School (SHS) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Students acquire in-depth knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes through continuity and consistency across all levels and subjects. Discussions on issues such as Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) are included in the enhanced curriculum. Subjects are taught from the simplest concepts to more complicated concepts through grade levels in spiral progression.
Secondary education consists of four levels largely based on the American schooling system. DepEd (Department of Education) specifies a compulsory curriculum for all secondary schools, public and private. Secondary education known as Paaralang Sekundarya comprises 4 grades that have changed little since the second world war. The curriculum is prescribed for both private and state schools. Core subjects are as follows:
  • Year 1 - Filipino 1, Algebra 1, Integrated Science, English 1, Phillipine History
  • Year 2 - Filipino 2, Algebra 2, Biology, English 2, Asian History
  • Year 3 - Filipino 3, Geometry, Chemistry, World History, Geography
  • Year 4 - Filipino 4, Calculus, Trigonometry, Physics, Literature, Economics
Minor optional subjects include Health, Music, Arts, Physical Education, Home Economics and Technology. Selected schools present additional subjects.
       1.7 Teaching Plan
Teaching plan in this school, especially in Science, teachers should have to make a instructional materials such as human skleton, Periodic table and also lesson plan for  every meeting. The lesson plan includes learning objectives, learning assessment, learning content, learning procedure and assignment.

4th Week "Closing Program in Baguio City National High School and Farewell Party"

              On August 28 we did the closing program in Baguio City National High School. Ma'am Brenda as principal of Baguio City National High School gave us some advice and said thanks for us cause we already taught the students in BCNHS. Furthermore after the closing program we took the picture together.

Then we do farewell party at Burgos Conference Room, Saint Louis University. We have to make the performance for farewell party with all of participants.

 This is the best experience that i have, iam so grateful to God that give me a chance so i can meet the kind, polite and great people in here, then also thank you for my beloved Cooperating Teacher "Ma'am Rowena L. Esteron and my buddy Neizel Tabaan Lengset. Futhermore thank you very much SEAMEO, Saint Louis University and Baguio National High School. 

3rd Week "Actual Teaching in Baguio City National High School"


On August 13, 2018 I did the first Actual Teaching in Elegance Class grade 9. I felt so nervous because I taught in advanced class. Furthermore this is the big challenge for me to teach chemistry using English, so i must do the best. Moreover i am so grateful  became awardee in this program.

          On August 21, 2018 we did Ied Adha in Ladies Dorm. Actually this is the first time for us did 
Ied Adha in abroad. Even though we felt so sad but still we covered that being together and being happy.

           On August 21, 2018 after we did ied adha. We went to Bahay Na Bato La Union Beach. 
Actually this beach  far from dorm, it takes 3 hour. Even tough it is far, we felt so excited because finally 
we  go outside from baguio city that the coldest place in Philippines. There were so many beautiful
 crafts made from stone and wood inside the museum. There were also many beautiful architectures of
 stone carving and  special Philippines crafts around the museum. We really enjoy the view of La 
Union beach.

On August 22, 2018 morning I had my second actual teaching in Dignity class grade 9.

             On August 23, 2018 Baguio City National High School did Tagalog day. It is very awesome because I saw the people wearing traditional costume. Actually the traditional costume from Philippine have similar traditional costume in Indonesia, especially for the motif and colour.

2nd Week "Team Teaching in Baguio City National High School"



On August 10, 2018 morning, I got the true my cooperating teacher, her name is  Ma’am Rowena L. Esteron. She is the senior teacher on teaching sciences especially in advanced class there are Elegance, Humility and Freedom. Actually  Iam felt nervous because I did my first time for team teaching. Ma’am Rowena as my cooperating teacher always  said to me “you can do it”. Moreover I have big spirit again, I really love her because during the time  she taught all of the students always give their attention to her and active because ma’am Rowena always give the question that have relation with the daily life. Furthermore While ma’am Rowena taught she always around the class to check the students understand about the lesson and one thing that make me admire for her  is she has a big voice, so it makes some students understand about what she said.
                       
                   
                                                                          1stTeam Teaching
           On August 14-16, 2018 we did not have a schedule go to school due to a storm. On Wednesday, we went to Saint Louis University for discuss about evaluation schedule.
On August 17, 2018 morning I did the second in Freedom class. In this moment I am more confident because I already got the comment from ma’am Rowena in the first team teaching. In addition I really love freedom class because they have a good attitude and active.

1st Week "Observation in Baguio City National High School"


             On August 3, 2018 morning, I did the first observation in Makatarunganclass grade 7. Firstly I felt scared because i must using english to teach chemistry and i felt disappointed because I observed in biology class which means that I would taught about biology, not chemistry. My cooperating teacher which is ma’am Sharon Lyn Sindayen got sick. So, I joined observation with my friend, she is Rachel and her cooperating teacher is ma’am Rowena Gracia.Actually my major is chemistry education, so I hope I can teach about chemistry. But ma’am Rowena Garcia told to me as a science we must able to teach biology or physics even though our major is chemistry. In addition she gave me motivation about my improvement in teaching. She is funny person who always give us joke and smile, moreover I got some inspiration to teach.
  First Observation
On August 6, 2018 morning, I did my second observation in Makakalikasan class grade 7 with the teacher is ma’am Carolyn TudiasVernes.
Second Observation
On august 7, 2018 morning, I did the  third observation in Mapakmalasakit class grade 7 with ma’am Rowena garcia again. I really love her method in teaching, because  for one hour she could explain and discussed about 4 topic. I thought it is very excellent.

 Third Observation
On august 8, 2018 morning, I had my fourth Observation in  class grade 9 with  ma’am Vilma P. Agacer. In this observation Iam so happy because I observed in chemistry class grade 9. I thought ma’am Vilma is very excellent in teaching because she could make the students thought first before she explained about the topic.


 Four Observation


1st Week "Orientation of SEA Teacher Batch 6 program"

        This is the first time for me to go to Philippines, Iam so grateful to God cause i have been selected to join Sea Teacher Batch 6th program at Philippines in Baguio City. Thankfull  SEAMEO for giving me a chance in Sea Teacher Program. I will stay in Baguio city for one month start from 1-29 August 2018. I’m very glad for this opportunity.
On August 1, 2018 morning, I am following the orientation session start at 08.00 a.m which be held by SLU. In the orientation there are many important matter for me such as introduction of SLU and Baguio National Senior High School. The orientation held in Burgos Conference Room. For the first time we met Ma’am Mary Grace Carrido Baywong, Ph.D.  as a Director of External Relation, Media & Communication Alumni Affairs Office (ERMCAA) Saint Louis University. Before,  we  have talked via Line Group Chat with her. We also met the Dean of School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts, Ma’am Felina P. Espique, Ph.D, Ma’am  Lagos, the one who’s intervied us, Ma’am Tess, Maam Majal Rani Espiritus, Maam Brenda as principal of Baguio City National High School, our buddies and Cooperating teacher from Baguio National High School.
There were 10 exchange students who participated and placed in Saint Louis Unversity. All the participants are from Indonesia and Thailand, Me, Dara and Putra are from University of Bengkulu; Putri and Nuris are from University of Jember; Rachel Sukma Fachlia, Annisa Faradisa and Mutia Dara Authari are from Syiah Kuala University; Violanda is from Padang State University;  and Saowapark Loedmuang is from Rajabat University Thailand. We have buddies here that helped us during the program. They are Kate, Symkaye, Marielle, Elibeth, Piolo, Julsen, Trisha, Beverly, Shane and Neizel. We are welcomed with a Banduria Instruments,  performance from SLU Students and have Bilo-bilo for the breakfast. In welcoming program, we’re sharing about background of Baguio City, history of SLU, Philipines education system, Introduced our name and told who was our Buddy and Cooperating Teacher.
                               
After the orientation, we met some students of Saint Louis University and one of them is the president KASAMA-SSC. They are so funny and they gave us warm welcomein Saint Louis University (SLU).
On August  2, 2018 , all of student of SEA Teacher Batch6 program have their orientation in Baguio City National High School (BCNHS). Before we went to BCNHS, our buddy picked up us at 07.00morning. All of the buddies are very kind and patient, They are Neizel, Kate, Eli, Trishal, Marielle, Beverly,  Shen, Symkye, Piolo and Julsen.

We arrived in BCNHS at 7:25am , The school is very accommodating ,the principals, teachers and even non-teaching staff is very kind. The school had many buildings and the school campus was clean.
Ma’am Brenda Carino, the school principal gave us some information about BCNHS and some motivations to become a good teacher. She also gave us some advice on how a teacher should behave.
During orientation, we are so happy because we were able to watch the performance  students from BCNHS.
